Capitol City Pawn & Jewelry is proud to partner with Safe Streets of Topeka, and the Topeka Police Department with a new program called Record It and Report It!
This program encourages property owners to keep a record of the serial numbers on their property, and notify law enforcement if a crime occurs. The Topeka Police Department in cooperation with Topeka area pawnbrokers and LEADS Online have the ability to search a database of property pawned or sold to area pawnbrokers and second-hand stores. If any property is discovered, steps can then be taken to recover the property and identify potential criminals.
Property owners can stop by any Topeka area pawnshops for a free invisible ink marking pen to mark their items. This ink can only be seen under a special light and can provide proof of ownership on items without serial numbers.
